Welcome to one of North Devon's most special carnivals

Hartland Carnival - Saturday 10 August 2024

This is the highlight of the year for the whole community as well as for many of our regular visitors from far and wide.

The planning for Hartland Carnival 2024 is well underway.

Two years ago we trialed the ‘change wagon’ this was a huge success and very popular so the committee has decided we will no longer be providing copper coins before the carnival procession. Instead, the committee is asking people to use the coins they bring and place them in the buckets carried by the walking stewards accompanying the floats and walkers.

The committee has also decided to ask for donations from those using the Car Parks provided.

This year’s theme for the Fun Figures is TBC, watch this space

TBC Deadline for Carnival Royalty Entries

The announcement of our Carnival Royalty for 2024 TBC

Our last carnival was - Saturday 12 August 2023 - where we witnessed marching bands, carnival royalty and impressive floats pass through the historic village, followed by a whole evening of entertainment from bands to food stalls and fun fairs. However, Hartland Carnival is far more than just a procession, the event is also preceded by a whole week of activities, fun and competitions for all the family. So whether you want to challenge yourself to the village quiz, consider yourself a Skittles champion or fancy spending an evening drinking craft ale before playing bubble football there's something for everyone and we can't wait to see you back in August 2024. Carnival week starts Sunday 4 August with Hartland Town Band Concert

Photos

Fond and embarrassing memories, we've captured them all from 2007 to 2018. We'd also love to hear if If you have older photos so we can upload them for everyone to share.

We won't let anything rain on our parade

From the outstanding entrants, to the relentlessly positive support from the community (despite the torrential downpour) this years carnival summed up everything that makes the day so special. Soggy feet, diluted pints and waterproofs in the middle of summer couldn't stop wall-to-wall crowds enjoying the parade. Check out the winners and round-up below.

What's on

We have a packed schedule for 2023. Along with the perennial favourites of the Quiz and Skittles,  the whole village is competing against itself in the fun figures contest and Friday will see the introduction of film night.
